Pommard

Formerly, the land belonged to the Dukes of Burgundy, to religious establishments such as the Abbey of Cîteaux, and to old families such as the Marey-Monge… As early as the Middle Ages, Pommard was seen as “the flower of Beaumois wines”. It is the wine of reference. In fact, the wines of Pommard have been the perfect representation of the Burgundy wine type for several centuries: red, coloured, bouqueted, firm and loyal.

I adore this wine, and it sums up all of the mystery and allure of Pommard in just one sip. Enticing, moreish, layered, and a touch exotic, this is a thrilling counterpoint to the Volnay. I would love to serve these two side-by-side to show the precise differences between these two neighbouring villages. This is such a pleasurable wine!
